Maximum SSD capacity is also doubled it's now 2TB. But the maximum number of cores is again doubled-in this case to four-in 8th-generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs, which run at up to 2.7GHz.

It still only offers integrated Intel graphics, for one thing-Intel Iris Plus 655, this time with 128MB of eDRAM. Note: We originally reported that the top GPU available for this machine was the AMD Radeon Pro 555X, as that was what slides Apple showed us indicated, but now that the machines have launched in Apple's stores, we've learned that it's the 560X, so we've updated it here.įurther Reading macOS Mojave: A visual tour of Dark Mode and other major featuresThe 13-inch model has different specs, of course.

The faster memory uses more energy, so a bigger battery is now included-but Apple's battery life estimate remains the same as last year's. The GPU in the top standard configuration is listed as an AMD Radeon Pro 560X. This time, it's DDR4, and the maximum is 32. The 2017 iteration of the MacBook Pro featured DDR3 memory with a maximum configuration of 16GB. Six-core Intel Core i7 processors are also options. The top configuration of the 15-inch model includes an 8th-generation, six-core Intel Core i9 CPU clocked at 2.9GHz. The specs, though, get a noteworthy bump. The laptops also borrow some features from the iMac Pro and the iPad Pro-the T2 chip and True Tone, respectively-and feature a revised butterfly keyboard, the third generation of the design Apple introduced in 2016 (the revision is a little more significant this time around). Apart from those tweaks to the keyboard, the basic design of the MacBook Pro is unchanged.

Maximum SSD capacity is also doubled, and the MacBook Pro line offers DDR4 RAM for the first time. That means faster performance for many use cases. The new machines are not major redesigns, but they offer configurations with 8th-generation Intel processors and more cores than before-a maximum of six cores on the 15-inch model (compared to four in last year's models) and four in the 13-inch model (compared to two). Its the i7 16GB 13" with Touch Bar, perfect for my school courses and today marks one week of having the best laptop I've ever owned.Today, Apple begins shipping the new 2018 refresh of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro. No new battery, this is an actual damn near unused Pro I picked up for this low. As for the battery count, first thing I checked after setup, it was at 32. I saw similar ones like this in okay cosmetic for well over $1300USD. The inside condition (as shown) is PERFECT, which I was amazed at. The cosmetic condition is that is has a fair few nicks on the sides, with a scratch on top. The person was selling it for ~$700USD because of the cosmetic condition, and I assumed the worst of the battery, but thought I could just replace.

It was listed as a 2016 Pro with Touch Bar, but after I picked it up, I found out it was a 2018 MacBook Pro! How lucky. I was fine getting a preowned and originally was looking on TradeMe (Ebay equivalent here in New Zealand) for one, at my price range (~1200 New Zealand Dollars/ 700US) I was mostly finding 2015's with i7s and 16GB, but I wanted to get one that would last a while, and found someone selling this 13" Pro.
Macbook pro 2018 resolution upgrade#
I already had an iMac and have loved the Mac workflow for years, and already have an iPhone and iPad so when it came time to upgrade from a bulky 7KG Windows laptop I jumped at the chance. Tl dr Found MacBook listed as 2016, turns out to be 2018 with high specs for a deal of a price, at the cost of a couple nicks on the side.
